Lemon Grove City Council Meeting this week! — Join Us!

Friends, activists, democrats, and allies,

Today we are reaching out for some help in Lemon Grove. Although Lemon Grove is small, we are mighty, and our position as a democratic council is under siege by a faction of community members who are looking to divide our city. City Councilmember Liana Lebaron has created a hostile work environment for both Lemon Grove City Council and Lemon Grove City Staff as a whole. Her supporters come to every meeting and yell and cheer as she continually speaks out of order and prevents city business from being conducted.

Her behavior is getting more severe with each passing day. Recently City Council voted to make an incident that happened during a closed session, open and available to the public. During the closed session of a city council meeting, Councilmember Liana LeBaron was yelling aggressively and uncontrollably at Councilmember Jennifer Mendoza. Mayor Raquel Vasquez stepped between them.

At this time the events become unclear and are disputed.

Mayor Vasquez heard Councilmember Liana LeBaron yell, “You’re a f@$king baboon!”

Councilwoman LeBaron stated that she said, “You’re all f@$cking bafoons!”

The other 3 council members cannot say for sure which she said.

Following the meeting where the City Council made that information public, one of Councilmember Lebaron’s supporters called Mayor Vasquez a “useless baboon” during public comment. Instead of immediately admonishing the behavior, Councilmember LeBaron laughed.

In even the best case scenario, Councilwoman LeBaron acted completely out of line and has opened the door for racists to have a voice at our City Council meetings and within our community.
