As we are a smaller club, we have had to combine roles to meet the needs of a full board in the past, but we are hoping to fill as many of the roles as we can to have a robust board going into this crucial year!

If you are interested in running for a board position, please fill out the attached interest form. This is not a requirement, but helps us prepare the ballot. We will also be talking nominations from the floor.

To be eligible to serve on the Executive Board and to vote in the election, you do need to be a member in good standing. This means you need to be current on your dues. If you are unsure of whether or not you are current, please reply to this email.

Please consider stepping up and taking on a leadership role. Besides our club meeting, we have one board meeting each month. This is the perfect year to learn the ropes and get geared up leading into the 2026 mid-term year!

The following positions will be open:

• President: The President is the Chief Executive Officer of the club. S/he presides over all club and executive board meetings, makes appointments to other positions as required, and acts as the club’s official spokesperson.
  Additional Responsibilities of the President:
  • Serve as a member of the San Diego County Democratic Party East Area Caucus.
  • Attend the monthly East Area Caucus as the Club’s voting member.
  • Attend the Central Committee Meeting for the San Diego County Democratic Party once a month as an observer.
  • Attend the Council of Clubs Meeting once a month.
• Secretary: The Secretary keeps the minutes of the general meetings and executive board meetings, conducts correspondence, maintain the club’s records, and maintain internal communications.
• Treasurer: The Treasurer is responsible for keeping the books of the club. S/he collects dues and fundraiser payments and deposits them into our account, maintains an accurate record of club receipts and expenditures, signs all checks as authorized by the Membership and Executive Board, and provides a report of the club’s financial status at club meetings as requested. When required, the Treasurer is responsible for filing appropriate Federal and State campaign finance reports to the County of San Diego and the FPPC.
• Communication Director: The Communications Director is in charge of maintaining regular communication with club members regarding club meetings and activities. This officer will also oversee the club’s website and ensure that information about the club is kept current on the San Diego County Democratic Party website.
• Program Chair: The Program Chair is responsible for inviting speakers to monthly meetings and coordinating other club events, such as participation in the Pride Parade, the annual holiday party, and the Fall membership event.
• Membership Chair: The Membership Chair is responsible for the annual rechartering, maintaining an accurate listing of members with their contact information, and promoting the club’s visibility in the community.

Also, don’t forget we had some homework for January to bring a way we can engage with our communities both personally and as a club. We will move into that discussion following the elections of our new board.
