You’re Invited to our Holiday Brunch

Hi Fellow Democrats!

We wanted to take a quick second to Invite You to our Annual Holiday Potluck Brunch.

This year has been filled with some crazy adventures for the record books.

Here is what we’ve endured:

  • We have seen incredible strife across the globe with more that 100 armed conflicts across the Middle East, Asia, Africa, Europe and South America. We have war between Russia and the Ukraine. We have war between Palestine and Israel.
  • We are seeing an incredible increase in hate towards people of Jewish, Arabic, African, and Latin decent.
  • We are seeing a world of hate towards people in the LGBTQ+ community, especially those who identify as Trans Gender.
  • So far this year we have seen 695 attempts to ban books, affecting 1,915 unique titles. These book bans are primarily targeting books with themes centered on race, history, sexual orientation, and gender.
  • We have seen unprecedented attacks on school boards under the guise of parental rights.
  • We have seen a nationwide inflation spike that is impacting and destabilizing all of us.
  • Locally we are seeing a significant increase in the number of families being evicted and ending up unhoused.
  • We are currently suffering an unfunded crisis at our California and Mexico Boarder that is still separating families and causing death. You can take 2 minute to tell your representatives to fund the crisis HERE.

Here is what we’ve accomplished:

  • We won a special election for the San Diego County Supervisor District 4 seat!
  • Lemon Grove is the only city in San Diego County to meet the State of California’s housing mandate requirements.
  • Spring Valley hosted it’s Inaugural Spring Valley Day.
  • Our San Diego County Board of Supervisors planted 14,000 trees in 2020, and has pledged to plant 49,000 trees by 2030, and an additional 70,000 trees by 2050.
  • We are effectively reaching a new normal following the COVID-19 pandemic with a return to in-person meetings first at The Hamlett and now at Elevated Coffee and Confections.
  • Our club members have volunteered over 5,000 hours supporting campaigns and our communities.
  • Our club members have shown up to speak out against inequitable policy from as far south as Imperial Beach, all the way up to Pauma Valley.

Our members are truly dedicated to creating a better San Diego County for us all. It is only fitting that we find time to celebrate!

Information on the Ongoing Migrant Crisis

The current migrant crisis at our San Diego/Mexico Border is bleak and dire. Our San Diego County Board of Supervisors have allocated funds to address this crisis, but money is about to run out.

Congress must provide Federal Relief to help us address this problem. Tell your representatives to provide relief by providing the basic needs for these refugees to survive and to fully fund the ongoing efforts at the border.
