📣 Let’s GOTV for Monica!🗳

Rally and GOTV events for Monica this weekend!

Let’s GOTV to elect Monica Montgomery Steppe instead!

Hi Fellow Democrats!

The Special Election ballot deadline is so close! The final day to turn them in is Tuesday, August 15th. That’s next Tuesday… only 4 days away!

We really need all hands on deck to Get Out the Vote for Monica. Obviously we know you have filled out your ballot and voted. For people like us, this is a no brainer. But here is the truth. Not everyone thinks like us. In a typical Presidential election year, turnout is around 60% of voters. That means 40% of registered voters never bother to vote! 😳

I know! It’s crazy!

And in midterm/gubernatorial years, those numbers flip! 😱

I know, right?! It’s so hard to fathom when we make it to the polls for every special, primary, and general election. But here’s the thing… participation in special elections is even lower. In fact it is usually only about 10% to 15% of registered voters. And here is the real kicker… typically more Republicans show up than Democrats. Yep! I know. 🤯

That’s why we need you. We need you to make sure you get everyone you know to turn in their ballots. We understand that life is busy, but at a minimum, can you commit to at least do that?

If you are available, we really need you and your free time. We know that is a lot to ask, but the County Board of Supervisors only flipped blue during the 2020 election after decades of mismanagement by republicans who put large corporations before the people they represent. We can’t let them use one man’s failures to tear down all the progress we’ve made, and continue to make every new day.

So again, if you have any spare time between now and Tuesday, can you please help us elect Monica Montgomery Steppe to the San Diego County Board of Supervisors?

Tomorrow morning, Monica’s Campaign is hosting a Get Out the Vote Rally in Ward Canyon Park at 10am. Several elected officials from all over the County are going to be there in support, including Congresswoman Sara Jacobs, San Diego City Council President Sean Elo-Rivera, and Lemon Grove Councilmembers Jennifer Mendoza and George Gastil.

Following the rally, volunteers like you are going to grab lists, buddy up, and start knocking on some doors. If you’ve never done that, it’s actually quite fun! So bring yourself and a friend or two and let’s do this!

If you can’t make it to tomorrow’s rally and canvassing event, please take a look at what other shifts are available. Our club is partnering with Monica’s Campaign to host a phone banking event tomorrow afternoon from 1-3. If you can’t do that, please be sure to check out the other volunteer opportunities through the campaign directly.

If you were unable to make the meeting, you can watch the full question and answer portion of the candidate forum here. Community members asked a lot of really amazing questions, especially ones related to housing and homelessness. You need to hear the candidate’s answers.
