Friendly reminder, this Wednesday the Spring Valley Lemon Grove Democratic club is proud to bring you a piece of our local history. We invite you to join us as we explore the historical court case of 1931, more commonly known as “The Lemon Grove Incident”. This case was the first successful school desegregation case in the history of the United States.
In partnership with the Democratic Education Alliance, the East Chapter of the Progressive Democratic Club, and the East Chapter of the Veterans Democratic Club, we will host a panel discussion on the case and its significance.
Featuring:
Plantiff Descendent, Roberto Alvarez Jr
Mural Artist, Mario Chacon
Lemon Grove Educators, Susan Bruner and Michael Stowe.
We offer a path to bring this piece of history into the curriculum for our students countywide. Learn about our local place in landmark cases such as Brown V. Board of Education, and about the strength of community when we come together.
